August 20th, 2015

UPDATE

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is advising that Units 2 and 3 at the Holyrood Thermal Generating Station are now fully available to the system.

Unit 1 will be available in early November after completion of maintenance work.

Previous Advisory

August 1, 2015 – Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is advising that Unit 1 at the Holyrood Thermal Generating Station has been taken offline for annual maintenance. Units 2 and 3 have been offline since early summer.

There will be a period of approximately two weeks when all units will be offline. Unit 3 is due to be returned to normal service following completion of its annual maintenance in mid-August. Unit 2 is scheduled to be available for service at the end of September and Unit 1 is scheduled to be available in early November.

Hydro’s annual maintenance season is a critical part of ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable electricity service to customers. All planned system outages are evaluated to eliminate or minimize potential customer impacts.

Hydro has sufficient generation reserves and there is no customer impact from this equipment outage.

Any changes to the status of the electricity system and or any significant system events will be communicated to customers.
