Power Outage Advisory: Extended outage in Labrador West rescheduled for June 26

May 17th, 2016

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is advising that there will be an extended power outage on Sunday, June 26 affecting customers in the Labrador West region to complete critical annual maintenance work.

The planned outage, which will take place 4 am – noon, will affect customers in Labrador City and Wabush. This power interruption is necessary in order to complete scheduled annual maintenance work on the Wabush terminal station.  In addition, this outage provides an opportunity to complete work on the distribution system within the communities that would alternatively need to be completed during separate scheduled outages.

Operations at the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Labrador will not be impacted during this work period.

The outage was originally scheduled to take place during the day on June 5.  However, the work was rescheduled to start early in the morning of June 26 to better accommodate customers.  Information on outage safety can be found here.

Hydro will provide any updates during the planned outage on June 26 on social media @ www.twitter.com/nlhydro or www.facebook.com/nlhydro or visit us online at www.nlhydro.com.
