Silver Lights Club

SilverLightsresizedNalcor Energy Silver Lights members are retirees or employees with 25 years or more of service. The Club provides members and their immediate family members opportunities to participate in community life in Newfoundland and Labrador.

One of the major projects undertaken by the Club was to produce and distribute the book The Power of Commitment, the history of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro.

Consultation and support
Members are available for retiring employees to offer support and advice when requested. They participate in the annual Safety and Health Week and, in the past, members have spoken to groups on retirement and life after retirement.

Community at large
The Club supports several community organizations including the Seniors Resource Center, Community Food Sharing Association, Diabetes Association, School Lunch Program and Adopt-a-Highway. The Club works with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro’s Community Investment Program to donate computers to schools and not-for-profit organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador. The intention is to contribute resources and expertise for the good of these community organizations.

Archives
The Club acts as a historical advisory committee, maintaining several displays at Hydro Place in St. John’s, collecting artifacts and is building a photo collection. Members are committed to preserving the history of Nalcor Energy and its lines of business.
