Equipment Advisory – Holyrood Generating Station Offline for Annual Maintenance

August 1st, 2017

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is advising that all three units at the Holyrood Thermal Generating Station are now offline to allow for the completion of annual maintenance.

No customers will be impacted as a result of this planned outage, and Hydro has sufficient generation reserves available.

The units will remain off until approximately August 18 with the return of Unit 3 to normal service. Unit 1 is currently scheduled for return to service in mid-September and Unit 2 in late October, once maintenance work has been completed.

The work carried out during Hydro’s annual maintenance season is essential to ensure equipment is adequately maintained and available to deliver electricity safely and reliably to customers year-round. All planned system outages are evaluated to eliminate or minimize potential customer impacts.

Any changes to the status of the electricity system or any significant system events will be communicated to customers.
